This talk will touch briefly on the role of rivers in shaping the Ozarks’ physically and culturally. Then it will shift to practical ways to enjoy the rivers and easy access points that can be explored by all.

Marcus Allen has been running the page Floating the Ozarks on Facebook for just over two years and has gained just over 100,000 followers (as of the time of the talk). The page is dedicated to sharing ways to experience the Ozarks’ rivers as well as other aspects of life and history in the region. While primarily focused on floating the rivers, the page also covers ways to enjoy nature in this beautiful region.

Marcus grew up in southern Indiana (the part with hills and trees) and after moving here in 1995 to pastor a church, also fell in love with floating, fishing, backpacking, hunting and finding all kinds of ways to explore the Ozarks.

This event is also sponsored by West Plains Council on the Arts.
