To celebrate National Family Literacy Day, Ozark Spring, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, (Ozark Spring, NSDAR) members, Mary Ann Mutrux, Kathy Barnett, and Cindy Pirch in conjunction with the Historic Lincoln School in West Plains, Missouri, welcome elementary children to a Children’s Story Hour. All three of these Ozark Spring Chapter NSDAR members are former public-school teachers. The Children’s Story Hour will be using the popular book, “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats. This award-winning book was published in 1962. The hero of the book, Peter, was among the first non-caricatured African-Americans to be featured in a major children’s book. This drop-in event has limited capacity, and parents need to stay during the event. The story hour will include related hands-on science activities focused for elementary students.
