The MSU-West Plains Jazz Ensemble will present an evening of high-energy music and cool holiday vibes! Join us for the annual Jazz Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Carol Silvey Student Union in Hass-Darr Hall. This free concert will feature a fun mix of jazz standards, big band charts, and seasonal tunes—all performed by a talented group of student and community musicians. Whether you’re a jazz fan or just looking for something festive and upbeat, this performance is sure to get your toes tapping. Toys for Tots Christmas Concert @ Bridge Church

From organizers:

The Toys For Tots Christmas Concert is preparing a wonderful celebration for Christmas lovers of the Ozarks!  This delightful two-night celebration helps make Christmas merry by raising toys for boys and girls of our area.  It has become one of the favorite events of the Christmas season for area residents.  The program this year will feature an outstanding gathering of talent from right here in the Ozarks, as well as singers and musicians from Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas.  The program is presented through the combined efforts of the United States Marine Corp League, and local television station K36NN TV, Channel 36.
The concert will include some favorite traditional Christmas songs, as well as some brand new Christmas songs, written by songwriters from right here in the Ozarks.  Christmas music will be performed on a stage beautifully decorated with over 60 lighted Christmas trees.  The price of admission is one new toy (unwrapped) for a child, or a donation at the door.
Among the singers scheduled to appear on this years program are Barbara Fairchild & Roy Morris, Mary Fay Jackson, The Waymasters, Dan Duncan and the TV 36 Band, Wings of Love, Molly Corman, The Tiptons, Ava Kasich, The Waymasters, Ray Epperson, Dale Rochell, Bev McCann, Rachael Taylor,  John Penney, and many more!
Toys  collected will benefit children Living in Howell County, and the counties immediately surrounding Howell County, according to Dan Duncan, organizer of the event.  Those toys will be received at the door, and dispersed by the United States Marine Corp League.

Lights of Life & Tree Lighting @ Ozarks Healthcare

The Ozarks Healthcare Foundation invites the community to take part in its annual “Lights of Life” program, a beloved tradition that honors and celebrates loved ones throughout the holiday season. Lights may be purchased in memory or in celebration for $10, with all proceeds supporting vital programs and services throughout Ozarks Healthcare.

This year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, December 8, at Ozarks Healthcare’s Grill 59, located near the main entrance at 1100 Kentucky Ave. in West Plains. The evening will include light refreshments, festive entertainment, and a warm gathering as the tree comes to life.

Although the ceremony takes place on December 8, lights may be purchased throughout the entire month of December. Lights will be displayed on the windows of the main lobby of Ozarks Healthcare, shining all season long in honor or celebration of loved ones.

The “Lights of Life” program directly supports several key initiatives within Ozarks Healthcare, including: the Ozarks Healthcare Endowment Fund, Ozarks Healthcare Cancer Treatment Center Patient Emergency Fund, hospice support for patients and families, and investment in new health technology and services.

West Plains Photography Club

The West Plains Photography Club currently has 34 members and meetings are at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the Missouri State University-West Plains Creative Discovery Center, 411 West Main Street, Suite 1. Everyone regardless of age or ability is invited to join the club which has no membership dues.

The purpose of the club is to share and support everyone’s passion for photography arts whether they are a beginner or have been engaged in photography for many years. Present members include some who do not even own a camera to professionals who make a living by selling their art. The Tale of the Carol: Exploring the Musical Traditions of Christmas Presentation by Rocky Long hosted by Ozarks Heritage Research Center @ Garnett Library

Officials with the Ozarks Heritage Research Center (OHRC) at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will host a special presentation on “The Tale of the Carol: Exploring the Musical Traditions of Christmas” presented by Rocky Long at 6 p.m. at the Garnett Library on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025. This event is sponsored by West Plains Council on the Arts and the Ozarks Heritage Research Center. Refreshments provided.

The presentation will explore how holiday music has been shaped by a blend of cultural influences, including early folk traditions, religious hymns, and community storytelling. Attendees will learn how carols evolved through migration, adaptation, and performance practice, reflecting both their European and Appalachian roots as well as the unique character of Ozark life. The event will look at the past, present, and the future of traditions that have made celebrating Christmas a meaningful and an enduring tradition.
